Book "Karst Molting" about Popovo Polje and Dinaric karst launched

ZAGREB, Nov 17 (Hina) - A book about the Popovo Polje field in the karst region of southern Bosnia and Herzegovina which has been recently launched unveils the importance of being aware of the significance of the Dinaric karst as a habitat.

The 680-page book, written by Hina journalist Ivo Lucic, is published by the Synopsis publishing house.

The research conducted by the author puts a focus on Popovo Polje as one of the most distinguished landscapes in karst regions.

The intention of the author was also to change a generally negative attitude towards karst regions and to encourage a correct and objective assessment of this type of landscape.

In this context the author notes that all the eight national parks and nine of the 11 nature parks in Croatia are connected with the Dinaric karst.

The book "Karst Molting: History of Studies on Dinaric Karst; Using the Example of Popovo Polje" includes hundreds of photos and maps.

Lucic conducted his research through three inter-disciplinary platforms: karstology, eco-history and cultural landscape.
