OSIJEK, Nov 30 (Hina) - The deputy of the Austrian and Germanminorities in the Croatian parliament, Nikola Mak, said in Osijek onWednesday that a wrong picture was being painted of the draftcompensation agreement with Austria because the damages it regulatedreferred to a small number of Austrians who fled Croatia after WW2.
OSIJEK, Nov 30 (Hina) - The deputy of the Austrian and German minorities in the Croatian parliament, Nikola Mak, said in Osijek on Wednesday that a wrong picture was being painted of the draft compensation agreement with Austria because the damages it regulated referred to a small number of Austrians who fled Croatia after WW2.

Mak said the figure could range from 2,000 to 3,000 and be even much smaller as "many who will apply for damages will not have the appropriate documentation".

He reiterated that Germans and Austrians in Croatia were "deeply hurt by President Stjepan Mesic's statement that they collaborated with the Nazi regime". He said that genocide was committed against them after 1944.
