Presenting the register, competent ministers said that the data base of the Interior Ministry contained the names of 60,141 veterans and that the data base of the Defence Ministry had 454,174 names, of which 24,908 were registered in both data bases.
The register also shows that there are 149,093 male and 7,944 female volunteers who joined in the war of independence before 15 January 1992, i.e. before the international recognition of the Republic of Croatia.
Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic said that what still remained to be done was to precisely categorise those who were in the combat sector and those who were in the non-combat sector.
